A heritage rain house since 1949
BSC Umbrellas — Bhaiya Sahab Chatriwala — is a family-run heritage rain-essentials house from Ratlam, founded in 1949. Three generations, three brands, and seventy-six monsoons of Indian craftsmanship under one roof — BSC, T.V. Umbrellas, and Tank Chhap.
Founded in Ratlam by Shri Mangilal Ji Kesrimal Ji Lodha
BSC Umbrellas was founded in Ratlam in 1949 by Shri Mangilal Ji Kesrimal Ji Lodha, not as a business pitched to the market, but as a quiet promise to it — that dependable protection from rain, sun, and storm should never be a compromise. From a small workshop carrying the village shorthand Bhaiya Sahab Chatriwala, the foundation was laid for what would become one of India's most enduring rain-essentials houses.
From its earliest days, BSC stood for durability, reliability, and craftsmanship. It was built on a simple but powerful principle: a product should earn trust not through words, but through years of performance. That philosophy carried the workshop from a regional name in Ratlam into a respected force across central India — and seeded the family standard that every BSC umbrella, raincoat, and length of cloth still answers to today.
Carried forward by Shri Prakash Ji Lodha
As the legacy strengthened, Shri Prakash Ji Lodha, son of Shri Mangilal Ji Kesrimal Ji Lodha, carried his father's vision forward with extraordinary dedication. Following firmly in his father's footsteps while bringing his own strategic foresight, he expanded BSC exponentially — transforming a trusted regional foundation into a far-reaching enterprise.
Through relentless commitment, deep market understanding, and product expertise built lot after lot, Shri Prakash Ji Lodha broadened BSC's reach, strengthened its presence, and helped establish it as a powerful name across wider markets. Under his stewardship, BSC moved beyond a single product line and began to evolve into a house of brands — the structure that today carries BSC, T.V. Umbrellas, and Tank Chhap, each built for a different shelf, each held to the same family standard.
Led today by Pinkesh Lodha
Today, Pinkesh Lodha — son of Shri Prakash Ji Lodha and grandson of Shri Mangilal Ji Kesrimal Ji Lodha — stands at the helm of the BSC house, leading it into its boldest era yet. Representing the third generation, Pinkesh Lodha has taken BSC beyond legacy and into national prominence, with offices in Indore and Mumbai and a customer base that spans the country.
Under his leadership, the house has matured into three distinct brands — BSC for the premium consumer line, T.V. Umbrellas for the wholesale trade, and Tank Chhap for the long monsoon — while every product across all three is still manufactured in-house at Preeti Umbrella Factory, the family-owned facility he runs personally. One workshop, one standard, three brands, three generations.
From Ratlam to India-wide recognition, BSC Umbrellas today stands as an example of how family legacy, when guided with vision, can become a national identity without losing the principles that built it.
Three brands. One house.
Each of our brands was built for a different buyer, a different shelf, a different conversation. They share a workshop and a standard. The umbrella in your hand is shaped by the brand on its sleeve — and the family behind all three.
The flagship premium consumer line. Refined materials, considered design, a finish that earns its price tag.
A trusted name on the trade side — the brand wholesalers and retailers across India have leaned on for decades.
Tough as the name. The full rainwear range — umbrellas, raincoat cloth, ponchos — for the long monsoon.
More than a brand — a house name
For decades, BSC has not simply sold umbrellas. It has built familiarity across generations of Indian buyers. For many, BSC Umbrellas is remembered as:
- Bhaiya Sahab Chatriwala — the household shorthand for a trusted umbrella
- The parent house of Tank Chhap and T.V. Umbrellas
- A premium umbrella maker from Indore
- A family legacy spanning three generations
- A trusted manufacturer of umbrellas, raincoats and ponchos
- A 76-year heritage of rain-essentials craftsmanship
That is what separates BSC from ordinary market presence. It is not just a product line — it is a brand shaped by over seven decades of trust.
BSC Umbrellas today
From its founding in Ratlam in 1949 to its national presence today, BSC Umbrellas remains rooted in the values that first defined it: build quality products, earn trust, and grow through consistency.
With a foundation laid by Shri Mangilal Ji Kesrimal Ji Lodha, expanded by Shri Prakash Ji Lodha, and nationally scaled by Pinkesh Lodha, BSC Umbrellas continues to strengthen its place as one of India's enduring rainwear legacies — one workshop, one standard, three brands.
